Jim Borgman: The Blackberry/iPhone epidemic

Every once in a while Jim Borgman posts an editorial cartoon that I can't help but "repost" on here. This was a recent offering of his. I can't help but smirk every time someone says they want a blackberry. This is what it does to you. Can anyone else relate to this cartoon? Can I get a witness?

I do not have a blackberry, nor do I want one. Unfortunately, I do have text messaging and that has become the preferred way to communicate in the market (try to remember the age of the people I work with). While it is convenient to be able to be in touch, I often want to throw my phone out the window when I hear that new message alert...

What do you think I'm doing right now?? On vacation, checking e-mail. Oooh, and working, too.

Rus, it's called a cRaCkBeRry here at Mars, Inc. We all have them and there is rarely a meeting/conversation where someone isn't checking their email. It's kind of rude...until you have a Blackberry :)

Yeah, I've got one as well. As far as the meetings are concerned, I have heard two very good terms describing Blackberry Mannerisms: "The BLackberry Prayer" and "The Prairie Dog."

If you don't watch yourself, a blackberry can take over your life. Some people cannot see everything they are missing when this happens. As long as we remember that before all else comes your faith and your family you can handle this hand held idot box.
